Maheshwar

Situated on the banks of river Narmada, Maheshwar. The town possesses a treasure trove of beautiful temples that calm the soul, alongside man-made creations that please the eyes. This city is famous for its very beautiful and gorgeous Ghats and Maheshwari sarees.

Maheshwar's temples and mighty fort- complex stand in quiet beauty, mirrored in the river below. The massive Maheshwar Fort stands on a hill overlooking the Narmada on the South and the modern town of Maheshwar to its North.The front elevation and architecture of the Fort of Maheshwar is so exquisite. The design of stairs is very majestic and picturesque. In front of Rajwada there is a huge statue of Devi Ahilyabai which is 13 feet high made up of metals. The many- tiered temples of Maheshwar are distinguished by their carved overhanging balconies and their intricately worked doorways. The exquisite beauty of Maheshwar and river Narmada is captured in some Bollywood and Tamil/ Kollywood movies. Some of the movies shot in Maheshwar including the movie "Ashoka", Tulsi. Also starting episodes of Zee TV serial Jhansi Ki Rani was shot here. Also, Yamala Pagla Deewana film 50-minute shot done here at Bazar Chowk, Rajwada, Ahilyabai Chhatri, Ahilya Ghat, and many more locations. The shooting of "Radha Nachegi" song from Tevar was done here.

Also, recently few scenes of Bajirao Mastani, Neerja and Gautamiputra Satakarni (film) were shot here. The film Pad Man was shot here. And title track movie Dabangg 3 starring Salman Khan was shot for 2 weeks. Shooting of Kalank and Manikarnika is also done here.
