Gagron Fort is a fine example of a hill and water fort. It is one of the six hill forts of Rajasthan to be a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. Surrounded by the tranquil waters of the Ahu and Kalisindh rivers on three sides, the fort is indeed a sight to behold. It still retains its Rajput aura-with its barracks, magazine, palace and stables. The fort of Gagron was one of Jhala Zalim Singh’s favourite retreats and he was here when the Maharao of Bundi, Umed Singh, breathed his last in 1819.
