The temple has a composite architecture of old and the new Nagara style structure. In this temple, Lord Eshwara is shown in half man and half woman (Ardha Narishwara) form. The temple carved in black stone dates back to the 13th century, the sabhamandap (central hall) and the shikhara (dome) were developed in the 18th century by Nana Phadnavis – A Great Maratha Ruler.
